Have you heard of Solid Snake? If you do, you’re probably familiar with Metal Gear. Metal Gear is a solid gaming franchise that was created by Hideo Kojima. There are a lot of version of the Metal Gear games but the first ones were released in Nintendo consoles.
Today, we are going to talk about the Metal Gear Ghost Babel Game for the Nintendo Gameboy Color. This is the second game of the franchise and it takes on the story of Solid Snake as he investigates the matter behind the new Metal Gear.
You see, seven years prior to the game’s incident, Solid Snake was responsible for destroying the original Metal Gear. This time around, he was contacted again by the US operatives to retrieve the stolen Metal Gear prototype.
This Metal Gear prototype was taken by the Gindra Liberation Front, an armed group that is bent on taking over America with the help of the Metal Gear.
Snake employs his partner, Chris Jenner, and both of them will traverse through different maps in order to retrieve the stolen gear.
The gameplay of the Metal Gear Ghost Babel Game for the Nintendo Gameboy Color is similar to the original game in that it follows the 2D overhead format. The only exception is that you can now move in 8 directions as opposed to the original game’s up, left, right, and down movement limitations.
Solid Snake will be your main character but Chris and other US operatives will be helping you with the use of the “Codec”, or simply just their unique communications system.
There are various difficulty settings for the game and depending on which one you will choose, there are going to be some difference. The obvious one would be that it would take more punches just to knock out an enemy. Furthermore, your rank will solely depend on the difficulty you’ve chosen. The higher the difficulty and the better the performance, the higher the rank. If you’ve got a higher rank, that means that you get a high score.
Aside from the usual Story mode, the Metal Gear Ghost Babel Game for the Nintendo Gameboy Color also has different game modes as well. These game modes are:
- VR Training- It is what the title says. This is a virtual training simulation that has 180 missions in total and 3 different categories (Weapon, Advanced, and Sneaking) for you to choose from.
- Vs. Battle- This allows you to play against another player via a Game Link Cable (they also have to have the same game). The objective is to beat the other player by destroying drones called “WISPS”. By destroying the drones, you will get a disc. Collect three discs and you will be the winner.
- Stage Select- This is basically a game mode where players can return to their previously completed missions in the hopes of getting a higher rank.
The Metal Gear Ghost Babel Game for the Nintendo Gameboy Color is a challenging game that incorporates many infiltrating styles. If you are a person who wants to do some espionage, this Nintendo game is for you.
